[The museum] whereas The Reagan museum is utilized to tell The story of Ronald and nancy Reagan and our 40th president's enduring legacy, The library's temporary gallery space is used to bring in historic and pop-culture influenced exhibits as a way to provide The local communities with a world-class family destination.-- see schedule o for continuation temporary exhibits> The secrets of wwii (april 2, 2022 october 9, 2022): this 11,000 square foot exhibition covers The stories some known and some unknown of world war ii. From The battles along our California coast to The battlefields of japan, germany, london and more, delve into The secrets of wwii. Explore The wild, strange, and sometimes shocking twists that seem like fiction. Artifacts include a german enigma machine, rarely seen fragments of japanese bombs left from their attack on southern California, and an actual german fieseler fi 156 d storch stol aircraft captured by The allies.> christmas around The world (november 13, 2021 january 9, 2022): after being closed in fiscal year 2021, The Reagan library reopened our annual christmas exhibit. Christmas around The world includes 26 exquisitely decorated trees representing The 26 countries that president Reagan visited while in office, as well as a white house tree. Decorations encompass The bright and festive colors of The caribbean, The crystals of The nordic countries and The traditional decorations of england and europe. Of particular note is The vatican tree decorated entirely with white ornaments featuring a life-size white peacock that adorns The tree's branches. The featured tree is an elegant reproduction of president and mrs. Reagan's white house tree complete with "Reagan red" decorations and dozens of hand-blown glass ornaments.>fbi: from al capone to al qaeda (july 2, 2021 february 27, 2022): this 11,000 square foot exhibition covers The history of The storied agency from inception to its modern-day efforts to fight domestic terrorism in The united states. This is The first time that many of these remarkable, historic artifacts and criminal evidence have been on public display together, including The authentic manifesto written by The unabomber, The actual car bonnie and clyde were shot and killed in, guns confiscated by john dillinger, baby face nelson and other members of The mafia, The actual raft and oars used during The infamous alcatraz escape, and so much more.community events> 30th anniversary of The Reagan library's opening november 4, 2021 marked The 30th anniversary of The Reagan library opening. On november 7, 2021, The Reagan Foundation hosted an event with keynote speakers david ferriero, archivist of The united states, peter robinson, speechwriter for president Reagan, congressman mike garcia, and former secretary of state condoleezza rice. 847 guests attended The outdoor program.> presidents' day and july 4th our annual programs were up and running again, following a year closed for covid. 2,762 people attended our 4th of july festivities, and 2,804 attended our president's day program. Both events included live musical entertainment, Presidential lookalikes, and family games.> veteran's day: The Reagan Foundation held it's first in-person veteran's day program in a year. 500 people attended The program which included keynote remarks by vietnam veteran and godaddy.com founder bob parsons.> Ronald Reagan's birthday celebration: to honor president Reagan, president george w. bush designated united states marine corps base camp pendleton to place a wreath on president Reagan's gravesite on his behalf on every february 6th. The ceremony includes a 21-gun salute. [Presidential learning center (education programs) and Ronald Reagan Institute (rri)]at The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute, our education programs are dedicated to cultivating The next generation of citizen-leaders. Each year, we work with thousands of teachers and tens of thousands of students from across The country to help foster The engaged and informed citizens that president Reagan knew were so vital to a healthy america.-- see schedule o for continuation >The Reagan leadership center (rlc): formerly The air force one discovery center, The rlc served over 8,000 5th through 12th grade students in The library's interactive and immersive grenada invasion simulation, called "operation urgent fury." More than 600 students participated in The interactive and immersive virtual experience. Students participate in role-playing exercises based upon The 1983 united states rescue mission of american students in grenada to learn how government works and how decisions are made. The rlc opened its second scenario, "operation 007," based on The shooting down of korean airlines flight 007, using web-based simultaneous multi-player systems for more complicated gameplay. Students experience The challenges of decision-making while grappling with The balance between liberty and security.>ge-reagan Foundation scholarship program: this scholarship, in partnership with ge, honors The legacy and character of president Reagan by rewarding college-bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with financial assistance to pursue higher education. In 2022, more than 13,600 students from across The united states completed applications. Ten students were awarded The scholarship, which provides $10,000 per year for four years. Recipients participated in a scholars retreat at The Reagan library and receive ongoing programming and support to develop their leadership skills. In total this program has committed more than $8.2 million dollars to 205 scholars representing 41 home states.>ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation scholars program: this program celebrated its 23rd class of scholars in 2022, exceeding $790,000 in total funding since The program's inception to 217 outstanding student leaders in ventura county. The 2022 recipients included 13 local high school seniors who demonstrated outstanding leadership, character, communication skills, academic achievement, and commitment to ventura county. Students were celebrated during an awards dinner in may.>great communicator debate series: The Ronald Reagan great communicator debate series is designed to develop proactive, informed, educated, and conscientious citizens and leaders by creating and hosting a national series of high school debates. More than 600 students from across The country competed both in-person and virtually at seven regional qualifying tournaments, and The Foundation partnered with The national speech and debate association to host 16 national finalists in a national championship here at The Reagan library in july. A total of $50,000 in scholarships was awarded. More than 136 scholars have received over $360,000 in funding from this program.> Presidential learning center programming: in 2022, The Reagan Foundation's walter and leonore annenberg Presidential learning center (aplc) continues to engage students and teachers from across The country with its goal of cultivating informed and engaged citizen-leaders. The aplc hosted professional development opportunities including: California constitution day, leading historian dr. gordon lloyd, education appreciation night, and more. For students, The aplc hosted The medal of honor forum, and through a partnership with discovery education has reached over 285,000 students with free online curriculum, courses, field trips, and experiences. >student leadership program: this past summer, more than 140 high school students from across The country and around The world learned how effective communication, civic duty, and informed decision making are essential to leadership. We hosted both a virtual and an in-person summer camp working with educators, community mentors, and college interns to create their own personal leadership action plan. Students graduate from The program prepared to make a difference in their community or school. Student graduates of this program have earned tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships. Each year, rise brings together hundreds of leaders and key stakeholders in education including members of congress, governors, cabinet secretaries, higher education administrators, and leaders from The department of education and industry to examine The challenges and fortify The strengths of The u.s. education system.>american opportunity bootcamp: in 2022, The Ronald Reagan Institute's center for civics education and opportunity launched an intensive four-day program that examines The theory and practice behind reaganism (or reaganomics), The philosophy that drove president Reagan's economic policies. The bootcamp offers an overarching history and understanding of free-market economic policies that governed The Reagan years. The program provides students access to The nation's leading economic thought leaders, business leaders, policymakers, and workforce experts. Students will leave The bootcamp with strong foundational knowledge and a working lexicon in economic and workforce policies, an understanding of intersecting relationships between education and workforce policymaking, and a diverse set of viewpoints from industry leaders. Students emerge with an understanding of economic foundations that provide The context for american opportunity.>civic leaders fellowship: this year, The Reagan Institute launched its civic leaders fellowship (clf), a six-month leadership and professional development program designed to elevate student success in civic and professional life. The fellowship utilizes a combination of hybrid and place-based learning at both The Reagan library in California and The Reagan Institute in Washington, dc. Through The civic leaders fellowship, undergraduate students will grow as young professionals and leaders, ready to take on The next stage of life. Clf enables students to stay at their home institution during The fall while participating in a program that encourages civic investment and responsibility and advances their professional opportunities. The goal of The Reagan Institute's civic leaders fellowship is to cultivate student skills, knowledge, and character in order to enable fellows to network and begin their professional careers with civic responsibility in mind.> The state of civics series: The state of civics series was designed to highlight innovations in civic education that occur at The state level by engaging The voices of state education chiefs, exemplary educators, students, and leaders in The field of civics. These virtual programs give a general overview of what is happening around The country, zero in on a case study of The highlighted state, and then look at what is on The horizon. Featured and proposed states include Tennessee, Wyoming, south carolina, Georgia, and Colorado.
