Program areas at The Rex Dobson Ruby Ellen Farm
The organization provided maintanance to The landscape, structures and relics of The Ruby Ellen Farm. Buildings were extensively examined to determine priority repairs, and The barn foundation rehabilitation continued with a hands-on workshop of 15 paid participants, facilitated in partnership with The Michigan barn preservation network. The organization continues The process of cleaning, sorting and documenting The antiques and artifacts of The Farm.
The annual plowday attracted 300 attendees to The Farm to learn about and watch seven horse-team drawn plows work.
The annual community falltime gathering brought 150 people to The Farm for celebration and education.
The organization provided continued maintenance to The landscape, structures and relics of The Ruby Ellen Farm. Buildings were examined to determine priority repairs. The cookhouse/gift shop floor was scraped and repainted. Additional gift shop signage was installed. The farmhouse attic project continued: removing old insulation and installing new, covering it with sheathing. At-risk items were stored in large plastic totes until The project is complete. The tractor house project continued: overall cleaning and moving/reorganzing equipment in preparation for self-guided tours with informational placards on The equipment. The dirt floor was raked level and gravel spread in areas where equipment was placed. New signage was installed at The paddock garden, identifying all participating partner organizations. The organization continued cleaning, sorting and documenting The antiques and artifacts of The Farm.
