Working on The equitable & just national climate platform, The goals of which are to (a) increase collaboration between environmental j j justice groups and national environmental organizations and (b) develop ideas for inclusive climate policy.
Serving on The white house environmental justice advisory council (whejac).
Consulting with community groups, particularly assisting them with developing constructive public-private relationships. These relationships are crucial to creating comprehensive solutions.
Helping states establish justice 40 oversight committees composed of elected officials and representatives from state agencies. Because The impacts of environmental injustice stretch across The domains of different state agencies, interagency collaboration is essential to The effective allocation of justice 40 funds. Therefore, we are assisting elected officials in states such as Delaware and north carolina with replicating The model of state inter-agency coordination that regenesis pioneered. The committees will solicit The concerns and ideas of a range of stakeholders, identify communities most in need, support communities in obtaining federal funds, and make recommendations for state environmental policy.
Developing a curriculum to train community groups, elected officials, state agency employees, and business leaders to plan and execute comprehensive, cross-sector environmental justice initiatives. In addition to work related to justice 40, The regenesis Institute has been working with duke energy and solvay chemicals to establish a community solar farm on one of The rehabilitated brownfield sites that regenesis owns. The solar farm will provide energy to south side residents and solvay.
Currently, The regenesis Institute is still engaged in The activities listed in The previous section. We are also now focusing on building The Institute's infrastructure. At this point, this primarily involves seeking funding. We are writing grant proposals and talking to potential investors to meet our financial needs
