Each summer, The Parks Foundation of Hendricks County hosts The summer fun run series, an annual non-competitive and family-friendly running / walking tour through 12 different Parks and trails throughout Hendricks County, Indiana. Goals:1. Raise money through sponsorship, registration, and individual donations.2. Attract 600+ individuals to register and attend event.strategy:create excitement about outdoor spaces throughout Hendricks County by exposing The community to different Parks and trails throughout The summer. Provide education on how Parks strengthen our community and their many needs for additional funding to influence residents of Hendricks County to become donors of The Foundation. Audience:1. Previous participants individuals and families2. Existing donors and friends3. Corporate sponsors, their employees and customers4. Hendricks County residents and visitors5. Individuals who enjoy Parks and/or families with childrenfunds raised from The summer fun run are used to provide grants to The local park departments to support projects like The following:-conservation signage on The white lick creek greenway in brownsburg -planting new trees and wildflowers in gary eakin park in danville-a new and improved habitat for omni The turtle at Washington township Parks & rec -directional signage on scamahorn walking trail in pittsboro-additional seating for special events at avon town hall-communication boards to help children that are nonverbal participate in The play processvision statement: to cultivate thriving outdoor experiences.mission statement: to grow financial resources to enhance The County's public Parks and trails.
Pfohc runs two grant cycles each year. In 2023 we gave away $52,425.60 to fund 7 projects. The first grant cycle was The gary emsweller Parks and trails fund. We gave 5 grants in 2023 totaling $47,000. The second grant cycle was The robert wood environmental education fund. We gave 2 grants in 2023 totaling $5,424.60.
