Program areas at The Musical Theater Project
School programs: tmtp's "kids love musicals" returned to classrooms for The second year following covid, still at about 50% capacity and serving approximately 2,000 children in grades k-4. This residency program uses songs, dialogue and movement from classic american musicals to introduce students to The art form. Schools include public, private and charter schools in rural, suburban and urban settings.
Archival projects-radio programs and recordings: unaffected by covid, tmtp produced 52 installments of The radio program "footlight parade"/ "on The aisle", broadcast on more than 100 public radio stations around The country. The program has more than 100,000 listeners each year in ne Ohio alone (station wclv). Additionally, The program was uploaded each week for streaming at www.prx.org under The same title, and as "on The aisle" it was broadcast twice per week on siriusxm satellite radio (channel 77). General interest episodes included "there's a place for us: utopia in song," "from The heart- and "september songs: celebrating growing older." Tmtp's record label, harbinger records, which specializes in Musical Theater, cabaret and The great american songbook, produces The first album of anais reno, a fast-rising star in The new york cabaret world.
Concerts & cabarets: relief from The pandemic saw a return to performance in venues in and around cleveland beginning in january 2022 with a partnership with cleveland jaz orchestra showcasing The gershwins, and two months later, a twice-postponed concert exploring The Musical "camelot." Concerts were moderately attended, in line with national statistics, operating at about 50% of pre-covid levels. One cabaret benefit performance was produced in april with approximately 125 individuals in attendance.
