Program areas at The Miaan Group
Fundraising: Miaan will raise funds for its organization by responding to requests for proposals from government agencies, including the US Department of State, and private foundations.
Consultation services to mission aligned organizations: Miaan offers their expertise and trainings to charitable organizations that share Miaan's goals. As with partner organizations, all trainee organizations are vetted for financial and operational history, and are checked against OFAC's List of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons. Trainee organizations are charged a service fee for these consultations, which are set via comparison to similar services provided by other organizations. Revenue from these consultation services are used to offset costs and support other aspects of Miaan's operations. Theses consultation services improve the effectiveness of organizations working in the human rights sphere, directly furthering Miaan's charitable purpose.
Engagement in project development, data research and analysis: Miaan will work on multiple projects in furtherance of the organization'smission of supporting human rights in the Middle East. Miaan's 'Policy Analysis' project involves research and analysis on the efficacy ofinternational bodies and foreign governments in promoting human rights in the Middle East. Miaan produces reports and articles on its researchand regularly publishes information on what approaches and tools best promote human rights aims. Miaan is also a leading specialist in internet policy and digital security in the human rights space and its articles and research are regularly referenced in the media. Miaan also provides digital security training and assistance to human rights defenders and journalists. Additionally, Miaan works with partner organizations in the Middle East to conduct research and analysis of marginalized groups in the Middle East. All partner organizations are vetted for financial and operational history, and all are checked against OFAC's List of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons.
