Program areas at The Matthews House

The Matthews House serves at-risk and marginalized young adults and families who have experienced generational poverty and/or childhood maltreatment. Case management as well as resource navigation is provided to young adults and families work towards self-sufficiency. The two core intervention programs are empowering youth and strengthening families. Empowering youth provides resources, training, and relationships for youth transitioning into adulthood who lack a support system. Strengthening families helps at-risk families achieve stability by addressing parenting, housing, education, and employment issues. 337 youth served , 40 youth engaged n our music program. 15 different opportunities in experiential education program activities offered with over 1211 visits, 76% of youth increased knowledge of independent living and social skills moving towards self-sufficiency and 87% of youth are identified and maintained healthy relationships/support systems.
Building community offers prevention services through case management, education, recreation, and community engagement. Through case, management families work towards self-sufficiency through resource navigation. Total number of families served throughout building community program: 424 families, 72 youth engaged in summer zone programming, over 60 families served through parent cafes. 80% of guardians are able to identify a minimum of three healthy sustainable supports, 74% of guardians have at least a high school diploma, 31% of these guardians have additional education. Safecare supports families with young children with in-home parenting support.
