Program areas at The John J Tyler Arboretum
In this fiscal year, Tyler was able to continue to expand its programming, events, workshops and volunteer opportunities. Our largest events, plant sale, Tyler at twilight, and several new evening events called fireside events returned with great success. In person programming resumed with docent-led tours, story times, health and wellness classes, and scouting activities. Outreaches and other educational classes returned to in-person this year, including story-times for children, school tours, and pop-up education stations at Tyler's butterfly house, rain garden, and at lucille's garden. Tyler started new wellness activities like yoga classes, weekend warm-up hikes, and continued our popular trail run. (continued on schedule o)tyler returned to offering regular admission entry, and continued to allow all members and visitors access to its 17 miles of hiking trails, streams, and natural areas. Both self-guided and docent-led tours for all visitors included wildflower walks, bird walks, history tours, pond and stream-themed tours, and tours of Tyler's premier gardens, including The wister rhododendron garden, The native woodland walk, The stopford meadow maze, The scenic loop, lucille's garden, The fragrant garden, and more than 550 acres of natural areas outside Tyler's deer enclosure.
