Program areas at The Japanese American Association of New York
The Educational & Cultural Classes conducted hybrid events include apple kid group activities; bilingual education workshops and play dates; baseball games held at Central Park and Randall's Island every Sunday morning from May to August; Japanese Language Workshop at Spring and Fall, Sakura Health Fair (spring) and Autumn Health Fair (fall). After Covid-19 pandemic, we held hydride (in person and online) events. JAA cancelled some events such as Spring Japanese Language Workshop, but we held online event of Spring Health Fair and Sakura Matsuri.The Digital Museum of the History of Japanese in New York is a platform to collect, preserve, and display archival documents, photographs, films, letters, and news reports. These materials relate to the fields of politics, diplomacy, business, science, culture, sports, education, community, and media, among others related to Japanese in New York.
Welfare service for The elderly includes senior luncheon programs for once or twice a month, consultation on legal matters, housing, health and others; lunch delivery to home bound seniors; support to fill out application forms of replacement of green cards and others; and workshops for seniors on medicare, medicaid, social security and others for all ages.
Scholarship Awards - Awarded 11 Scholarships to students attending universities in U.S.A. for higher education. The organization held an award presentation with keynote speaker Dr. Haruko Wakabayashi, Associate Professor, Rutgers University, with 120 guests at the Harvard Club on June 3, 2022.
