Program areas at CSG

Grants and contracts - restricted activities related to federal, State and foundation grants, contracts and special projects. These activities cover issues such as criminal justice, education, health, border issues and other projects of interest to all states and us territories and their citizens. Federal grants are from The department of justice, The department of labor, The department of defense, The department of energy, and other such agencies.
Offices located in each region focus on issues of interest to policy makers and provide State leaders with The resources and tools they need to effectively address today's public policy challenges. Projects include The regional offices as well as specific regional projects such as The eastern trade Council, northeast states association for agricultural stewardship midwest passenger rail commission, bowhay institute of legislative leaders development.
Public policy - The Council of State Governments tracks public policy issues in various areas across The country, including in education, health, energy and environment, and transportation at its headquarters office. In addition, several policy programs offer an expanded look into specific categories, such as public safety and justice issues at The national justice center, public health issues at healthy states, combined State efforts in areas of common interest through The national center for interstate compacts, and model legislation through The suggested State legislation program. Csg launched The comparative performance measurement project, which seeks to collect, analyze and publish comparative performance data so states can better set reachable targets for their services and identify successful State practices.
National and regional conferences which provide a forum for The exchange of information and trends relating to State government issues and State government officials. Provides networking opportunities for State officials from all branches of State government. Topics relating to educational issues, energy issues, health issues, growth and prosperity, environment, transportation, border issues and current economic climate are discussed. Presentations made by expert speakers and panel members.
