Community Outreach Coalition empowers individuals, youth, and families to excel in life through community development services. Program areas at Community Outreach Coalition

Educational talent search(ets): the ets program identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. The program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and continue on to and complete their post-secondary education. Cocs educational talent search program services students that have an interest in pursuing post-secondary education.
Other programs: the art in careers program:the art is careers project is designed to motivate and encourage youth who have a passion for art but are discouraged to develop their craft because they are unaware of how art can translate into a future career. The project consists of various workshops held throughout the school year after-school and a summer theater production program. Local artists and instructors provide hands-on art activities displaying how art is embedded in specific occupations. (continued on schedule o)
Educational opportunity centers (eoc): the eoc is a non-profit program administered by the Community Outreach Coalition and funded by the u.s. department of education to serve participants in the cities of franklin, suffolk, norfolk, and portsmouth. The purpose of the eoc is to provide assistance to individuals having a desire to enter or re-enter a program of post-secondary education. Education specialists provide assistance with career decision making, admissions, and applying for financial aid. The goal is to help individuals enroll in ged programs, technical programs, or two or four-year colleges and universities.
