The Boston Library Society allocates funds to The Boston athenaeum, a tax-exempt organization. The Boston athenaeum is an independent Library committed to maintaining and augmenting its significant collections of history, literature and art; to serving a broad community of scholars as a center for research; to serving its membership and The public not only through its circulating and reference collections but also through lectures, exhibitions and publications; and to preserving and enhancing its national historic landmark building.
