The Battery Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit educational corporation, was created in 1994 with a mission to rebuild and revitalize The Battery and Castle Clinton National Monument, which is the park's major landmark. They spearhead improvement efforts in partnership with the city of New York's department of parks & recreation (NYC Parks) to transform, maintain, operate, and program The Battery public park at the southern tip of Manhattan. Throughout 2021, The Conservancy continued its efforts towards this mission.

Program areas at The Battery Conservancy

The Battery Conservancy partners with The city of new york's department of parks & recreation (nyc parks) to transform, maintain, operate, and program The Battery, The public park at The southern tip of manhattan. Among other services, The Conservancy provides litter collection, cleaning and supplying public restrooms, and specialized gardening on a daily basis. During 2022, The Conservancy continued to participate in resiliency planning with all levels of government and to work with nyc parks to design new public restrooms to serve The Battery playscape. The Conservancy returned to offering a full slate of programs and added significant new programming at playscape, including The inaugural season of playscape performs, featuring live puppetry and dance at playscape's showbox theater, all free to The public.
