The Ballard House Project, Inc. is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history and contributions of Birminghams African-American community in the years leading to, and through, the Birmingham Civil Rights Movement. Continued to create more awareness of the lives of African Americans in Birmingham. Preserved an African American historic place and re-programming it as a cultural community space. Created more awareness of the lives of African Americans in Birmingham. To operate a museum, educational, and cultural space showcasing the life of African Americans in Birmingham.

Program areas at The Ballard House Project

The Ballard House Project, Inc. Ongoing research work and tour group presentations for students and adults focus on documenting and sharing The contributions of african-americans within The human and civil rights narrative of The 1950s and 1960s. In 2023, bhp planned and implemented seven 7 community conversations with panelists and presenters on an array of educational civil rights topics over many months and one mass community convening with a special guest speaker in september. Our year long program for residents and visitors, birmingham 1963 to 2023, was a 60 year commemoration of The events and acts of courage of The citys residents in their fight for human and civil rights.
The Ballard House Project researches, documents, preserves and shares The history of birminghams african american community, creating oral historeis and community conversations, maintaining an historical archive, and plans for temporary, permanent and digital exhibits
This multi-year Project entails The beautification plants and garden materials installation, grounds preparation, watering, plant replenishment and short term maintenance of The grave sites of victims of The 1963 16th street baptist church bombing in birmingham. Our Project focuses on The grave sites and family grave sites of The four girls who passed as a result of The bombing. This Project is a gift of comfort and community remembrance to The families of The four little girls.
