Program areas at The Art League
School - offers classes in The morning, afternoon, and evening 7 days/week across four 9-week terms each year, with shorter duration workshops offered between terms. In fy21-22, The school had 9,460 student enrollments in classes and workshops (including travel workshops) and 1,191 child enrollements in camps. The League engaged approximately 85 artist instructors for these sessions. Classes are available to The general public for those who wish to expand their education and learn how to create Art. The League also operates a small Art supply store to provide students with The supplies and tools needed in their classes.
Outreach - The Art League has various outreach programs that are centered around using The visual arts as a catalyst for community engagement, social connection, personal enrichment and expressive catharsis. Every year, to benefit The local community, The organization provides arts programming for injured military personnel and returning vets (impart) in collaboration with The us military; at-risk girls in alexandria (soho), in collaboration with The city of alexandria's court service unit; and scholarships and special programming for The economically, physically and emotionally-challenged in our community.
Gallery - The gallery attracts approximately 7,000 visitors/month. It is open 7 days/week or 360 days/yr and presented 40 in-house exhibits in fy21-22, featuring 3,300 artworks exhibited. There were 18 membership shows, 1 student/faculty show, 10 solo shows, 10 bin gallery exhibits, plus an off-site exhibit; and 3 special programs (old town Art festival,pop-up activities, draw-a-thon, and demonstrations). It has 800 exhibiting artist members.
