Program areas at The American Legion Munnsville Post No 54
To provide advocacy for veterans' issues, national security, americanism, and children and youth: 1)veterans' affairs and rehabilitation: assists veterans in pursuing claims, understanding their rights, and obtaining their benefits; visits comrades who are sick or disabled; provides comfort to members' families in illness and bereavement; 2)assists The community in emergency preparedness; 3)inspires love of country and good citizenship through patriotic observances, flag etiquette, and youth services such as boys' state, scouts, oratorical contest (oration of The u.s. constitution), and school awards; 4) ensuring that any child of a veteran in need of care and protection shall receive proper and timely service and aid; strenghtening The family unit; extending support to meeting The needs of The young people within The community. There are currently 98 Legion members.
Memorials: record, mark and decorate graves of deceased veterans, render services and comfort to bereaved families and provide military funeral honors with The honor/color guard when requested.
Sons of The American Legion squad and American Legion riders: supervision of both The sons of The American Legion squadron and American Legion riders chapter in its respective organization, activities and recreational and educational programs. There are currently 75 squadron members, which include 6 dual members who also belong to The Legion.
