Education and outreach - aad conducts several outreach programs, which include an annual discussion of current topics, a series of speaking programs at several universities across the country and a high school in Connecticut, and an annual forum on pertinent foreign policy themes. Aad also runs two podcast series, implemented with support from American foreign service association, Arizona state university, carnegiecorporation of new york, dtaminr, and fletcher school at tufts university, which offer listeners an inside look as to other colleagues overseas that make it happen. Finally, aad maintains a collection of diplomatic teaching resources, which are available on aad's website.
Aad's most recent publication is the "blueprint2: professional education and training" in the 2022 report by marc grossman and marcie ries titled blurprints for a more modern us diplomatic service. The report as a whole, published by Arizona's state university, offers an actionable guide for producing operationally significant changes in the ways the united states organizes and executes its Diplomacy. More specifically, blueprint 2, written by aad, developes concrete measures necessary to increase the professional capacities of u.s. diplomats by expanding opportunities for professional education and training. Other recent publications include "changing the risk paradigm for u.s. diplomats" (2021), which offers the state departments a set of recommendations for addressing the growing risk aversion at its overseas missions, include the legisilative change of the accountability review boards; "strengthening the department of state" (2019), which offers recommendations for how to enhance the structures and processes of the department; support for American jobs (part i - 2016, part ii - 2017), which addresses how to update state and commerce departments' support for American commerce abroad; and American diploamacy at risk (2005), which makes recommendations for the changes necessary to prepare American diplomats for the challenges of the 21st century.
