Program areas at The Academy for Jewish Religion
Ajr is a pluralistic rabbinical, cantorial, and graduate school that trains Jewish leaders for service in communities and institutions across The constellation of Jewish life.
Ajr received a generous grant from lilly endowment, inc. to fund "mosaic Religion and The religious mosaic," a project to foster greater knowledge and awareness of The diversity of Jewish life and thought for students at christian seminaries. The project participants developed innovative video materials to foster greater understanding of judaism for christian seminarians and member seminaries of The association of theological schools (ats). The shared goal was to help prepare priests, ministers, and lay leaders to build bridges of christian-jewish understanding and respect in their diverse communities.
Ajr received a generous grant from The american association for The advancement of science, to fund our "bringing science to Jewish clergy" project, which ensures that ajr's ordinees and graduates are conversant with, and comfortable engaging their communities on topics related to, well-grounded science. Accomplishments included enhancement of ajr's curriculum to maximize student exposure to a variety of scientific areas. Ajr collaborated with The alan alda center for communicating science to produce "Religion and science: building bridges to lives of meaning," an event that was broadcast live from stony brook university. Ajr was thrilled to honor alan alda with The mevinei mada award during The program. Ajr launched The center for judaism and science to continue expanding its science based programming.
