Program areas at Abilene Education Foundation
The College Offers Opportunities for Life (COOL) Team college advisors work at each High School campus to get students to and through college, 2/3 of whom are first in their families to attend college. These counselors help with campus tours, placement tests, applications, FAFSA, and scholarships. After graduation, they work to help students navigate campus life, reach their goals, and change their family tree.
Supporting Teachers with Academic Resources (STAR) Grants provide teachers with project and instructional materials to help with classroom activities and directly impact learning, up to $1000.
AEF Scholarships strive to reward deserving students of AISD with scholarships to make the transition from high school to college as seamless as possible and to help students avoid debt.
Various programs related to promote and enhance an exemplary education for students of the Abilene Independent School District; they receive varying amounts depending on criteria and needs.
Teachers in the Limelight (TLC) honors the dedicated work of teachers in AISD with campus recognition, a formal dinner, and a monetary award. The teachers possess integrity and a love for teaching. This celebration also honors an up-and-coming teacher, a fine arts educator, a coach, and a counselor. The elementary and secondary teachers of the year continue to compete in the regional teaching excellence award competition.
