Program areas at Texas Discovery Gardens

Children are taught the far reaching benefits of caring for the environment. Especially, how doing the work in their own backyards and neighborhoods has a positive impact. Adult programs: workshops, lectures, interpretation and programs focus the use of native and adapted planting to create low water, drought-tolerant, economical and beautiful yards. Environmental plantings and landscape support the life cycle of insects and animals. Approximately, 2,000 participate annually. Horticulture programs: the organic Gardens are designed to model beneficial residential habitats as well as support all educational programs and are visited by approximately 90,000 people. The Gardens demonstrate the important role of horticulture and man-made landscapes in the urban environment.
