Program areas at TALT
Conservation easements to protect working lands: TALT partners with landowners who seek donated conservation easements, purchase of development rights, and mitigation banks. TALT staff provides professional, efficient, responsive and experienced service for the negotiations of conservation easements. TALT will then monitor and steward these easements on an annual basis. TALT's processes have been developed to incorporate best management practices from the Land Trust Alliance (LTA) and from members of the Partnership of Rangeland Trusts (PORT). TALT earned an accrediation seal in 2019 from the Land Trust Accreditation Commission. This is awarded to land trusts meeting the highest national standards for excellence and conservation permanence. (See Schedule O for continuation)
TALT's outreach efforts focus on two key areas: educating landowners and their advisors on the effective use of conservation easements for land protection, conservation, and intergenerational transfer, and informing the public about the benefits of private working lands. Throughout Fiscal Year 2024, TALT organized and participated in numerous workshops and events across the state. These included the Beyond the Fence Line Podcast: "Tools in the Toolbox" (July 2023) and "Ecosystem Services Markets - Who's Who?" (September 2023); the Texas A&M Agrilife Land Conservation Workshop in Boerne, TX (October 2023); a Landowner Workshop on Conservation Easements in Uvalde, TX (November 2023);(See Schedule O for continuation)
