Program areas at Education Foundation of Teton Valley
The Education Foundation of Teton Valley's most significant program during the 2021-2022 fiscal year was bound for success. This program supports college and career readiness efforts in Teton high school and Teton middle school by providing professional training to school district teachers in college and career readiness learning as well as helps place a rooted position at Teton high school. The rooted position, also known as the post-secondary advisor, works with all twelfth grade students to help them prepare for a successful transition out of high school. This position's goal is that every student graduates with a plan in place for post-high school and that students who would benefit from a trade school, two-year college or four-year college are enrolled and have the resources they need to succeed.
The Education Foundation of Teton Valley's classroom grant program provides teachers and administrators the ability to apply for funding to support critical needs or innovative programs in their schools and classrooms. Applications are accepted three times per year. The grant process is competitive, and grants are scored based on a rubric. The grants awarded through this program impact the vast majority of students in grades k-12th. We aim to provide 5,000 per cycle each year for a total of 15,000 per school year. Total amounts vary and depend on applications submitted and additional funding available.
The Education Foundation of Teton Valley provides spanish language classes across three kindergarten-third grade elementary schools. This program ensures every elementary student has a chance to learn a foreign language during their early language development years. The program provides a native-spanish speaking teacher who models appropriate language and provides teacher representation for the approximately 30% of students who identify as latino in the school district. The curriculum is designed to support language development and understanding of spanish-speaking cultures.
The Education Foundation of Teton Valley works to elevate public Education through a three-initiative approach. We prepare students, support our schools, and enhance public Education. All Education Foundation programs fall within one of our three initiatives including the three programs mentioned above. Additional programs include parent Education programs and back-to-school readiness resources, summer learning programs, at-home library programs, expedition yellowstone field trips, robotics programs, afterschool programs, and classroom support. This work is possible because of a dedicated school district and engaged community.
