Program areas at Teller Senior Coalition
Transportation is provided to Senior and disabled clients. Teller Senior Coalition clients are defined as age 60 or older or disabled, low-income persons, and the transportation service gives the clients access to shopping, medical care, social and recreation activities. This service directly helps at-risk individuals avoid the dangers of isolation, including depression, illness and sometimes death. Transportation services are provided at no cost to clients. A total of 180,393 miles were driven in this program during 2022.
During 2022, 10,913 frozen and shelf stable meals were delivered to home- bound seniors as part of the rural area meal program.
Teller Senior Coalition provided 1,444 hours to caregivers of home-bound seniors by providing grant funds for respite time to give the caregivers relief from 24/7 responsibilities and to tend to their own needs. Grants were provided to individuals to pay for transportation, medical bills, and utility bills (heat, electricity and water) in emergency situations. The material aid program provided 120 hours of minor health and safety home repairs and house cleaning for Senior citizens. A Teller Senior Coalition case manager monitors the eligibility and proper use of all grants by personal contact with the clients. There were 1,545 hours of case management counseling and 1,530 hours of homemaker services.
