Symphony Silicon Valley was founded to fill a gap in san jose's cultural offerings, and initially focused exclusively on classical repertory and its listeners. As ssv's community commitment rapidly expanded, the Symphony board adapted its mission to include service to a much broader range of south bay residents. In addition to the classics, ssv's musicians apply their training and skill to captivating performances that connect with different generations, backgrounds, and tastes. By june 2019, the orchestra had been heard live by well over a million people. Ssv now serves the san jose-south bay region as its first-line resource for large ensemble, high quality musical performances that appeal to a variety of community constituencies.
