Program areas at SPLC
Events - SPLC's 2023 in-person Summit and virtual webinars brought together purchasing and sustainability professionals, suppliers, and NGO experts from diverse sectors and regions to share and promote sustainable purchasing best practices for organizations. In 2023, these events focused on addressing greenhouse gas emissions, toxins, equity, circularity, local community development and other sustainability impacts of an organization's supply chain.
Training - In 2023, SPLC launched its first online, on-demand sustainable procurement learning and development platform to SPLC members. This builds on SPLCs existing coaching workshop series which facilitates the development or enhancement of an organization's existing strategic sustainable purchasing program; a virtual training program focused on educating and addressing greenhouse gas emissions in an organizations value chain; and ongoing, small group collaboration and engagement opportunities which provides more tailored support and learnings on specific topical areas
Tools & Resources Development- SPLC hosts committees, collaboratives, working groups, and action teams with nearly 100 volunteers who contribute annually to the creation of shared guidance and tools which advance sustainable purchasing. Resources are then typically offered online via our member community alongside additional support offerings such as our Q&A forum, expert directory, case study library, e-learning library, and more. In 2023, SPLC launched its newest sustainable procurement measurement tool which was piloted to SPLC members in anticipation of release via an online platform in 2024. Members were able to assess their performance for the prior year and receive benchmarking comparisons to their participating peers and sectors.
