Program areas at Survivors Network of Those Abused By Priests
Snap is an independent peer Network of Survivors of institutional sexual abuse and their supporters. We support Survivors through peer support groups, one-on-one meetings with local leaders, and general support with our hotline. With over 120 volunteer leaders, we host our support groups for Survivors both in the us and abroad. In addition to our support services also provide advocacy and outreach services to help change laws that will better protect children and support all Survivors of abuse. In 2020, we made several significant strides into becoming a part of the wider abuse prevention movement By joining andtaking leadership roles in several large national and international coalitions in order to amplify our work, ensure the voice of Survivors is centered in high level conversations, and share resources and information with other groups. Snap was a leader in the "survivor'Survivorsr's agenda - childhood sexual abuse" coalition, working to include the perspectives and experiences of csa Survivors within the larger #metoo movement. Additionally, we have joined the keep kids safe coalition inaddition to the world day for prevention coalition and are involved with the executive committee of each group. Through our connection with these coalitions, we have been able to have a larger impact and bigger national role, allowing us to better educate the public about realities of abuse, increase our outreach to Survivors, and advance knowledge and understanding of abuse as a public health issue.our annual conferences are the events that snap members most look forward to and have been a tradition for nearly the entirety of our thirty year history.
