Program areas at Sunrise Children's Services
Sunrise Children's Services provides care to children, ages 8 to 18, who have developed unhealthy behaviors and coping methods as a result of severe abuse, neglect or some other family crisis. Services through Sunrise's residential or psychiatric residential treatment facilities are designed to serve male or female children, and are based on a treatment plan that addresses each child's individual needs. For each child's educational needs, Sunrise collaborates with local school districts. In fy2022, Sunrise provided 22,200 days of residential treatment Services to 146 children and 9,612 days to 70 children in psychiatric residential treatment.
Sunrise Children's Services' family Services program helps families handle immediate crises, long-term problems, or troubling experiences. The program's network of licensed and trained counseling professionals provide individual and/or family counseling Services that address emotional, social and situational problems. These include depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, grief/loss, and more. Program Services are readily accessible and effective, and are admistered by professionals with the highest education and credentialing levels in substance abuse treatment, clinical social work, counseling, and psychology. In fy2022, Sunrise helped 652 children and families by providing 9,588 outpatient clinical Services.
Sunrise Children's Services provides therapeutic foster care to children, from birth to age 21, who can benefit from care within the homes of specially trained foster families. Sunrise benefits these children and families by 24/7 support and foster-to-adopt Services available in every region of Kentucky. Sunrise uses a proven, treatment-based training model evaluated on outcomes-based success standards. In fy2022, Sunrise provided 49,029 foster care days to 261 children, and 2,175 days of care to 28 children in foster-to-adopt status, with 22 children having finalized adoptions in their forever homes.
Independent living is designed to help young people ages 18 to 21 transition into adulthood by imparting new skill sets and enhancing their ability to live independently. Sunrise provides an agency-leased apartment, including rent and utilities, as well as monthly stipends to assist with essentials such as clothing and personal incidentals. Independent living specialists ensure that apartments are appropriately furnished and supplied, assess clients' readiness for independent living, and ensure that each is educated on money management, job search strategies, safety skills, and more. In fy2022, Sunrise provided 12,415 independent living days to 58 clients.
