Program areas at Sunrise Children's Services

Sunrise's newest specialized residential treatment program is new start adolescent addiction treatment center, which is an alcohol and other drug entity (aode). In fy 2024, new start, located in bronston, continued to have a lasting impact on young men. Sunrise has discovered two major issues for today's youth: mental health and substance abuse. With the creation of new start, its goal is to help combat these conditions that keep these youth from becoming the best version of themselves. Addressing the mental health concerns and drug and alcohol abuse in boys ages 12 to 17 is the first program of its kind in Kentucky. Sunrise's other specialized treatment program psychiatric residential treatment facility (prtf) along with three therapeutic residential programs, serve male and female children based on individual treatment plans to address each child's needs. In fy 2024, Sunrise provided 18,358 days of residential treatment Services to 135 children, 9,250 days to 73 children in the prtf, and 2,385 days to 37 children in aode treatment.
Sunrise is also committed to doing what it can to help prevent families from entering into the foster care system. Sunrise's family Services program is a statewide network of licensed mental health professionals who support families in outpatient therapy settings. Its goal is to preserve families by helping them work through and overcome challenging life circumstances. Sunrise goes where the needs are, providing individual, family, and group therapy; assessments; parenting classes; case management; and educational opportunities. In fy2024, Sunrise helped 551 children and families by providing 8,521 outpatient clinical Services.
In fy 2024, Sunrise made great strides in constructing two homes on property in winchester that will be known as solid rock Children's ranch. Solid rock will provide a new community of care for sibling groups in foster care. Keeping large sibling groups together in one home is a need that Sunrise is addressing and meeting in its foster care program. Sunrise therapeutic foster care is made up of a tremendous staff of dedicated and caring professionals. They embody excellence and exude compassion partnering with foster families to provide around-the-clock assistance and comprehensive training. In fy2024, Sunrise provided 61,990 foster care days to 393 children, and 3,749 days of care to 49 children in foster-to-adopt status, with 41 children having finalized adoptions in their forever homes.
Sunrise has created an innovative and life-changing independent living program for young people who have aged out of the state's care, ages 18 through 21. As a participant, they are given the tools they need to build their own future as an independent adult. In addition, Sunrise has been committed to providing young adults even more support than what has been offered through state-funded independent living Services. That's why Sunrise created ventureon. Since 2015, ventureon has been Sunrise's pioneering, grant-funded program that surrounds young people with a care plan team and additional resources to better equip them for all that life can offer. In fy2024, Sunrise provided 13,170 independent living days to 77 clients.
Two of Sunrise's residential campuses now offer vocational rehabilitation which provides transitional Services for youth with disabilities. These Services include finding employment after high school, transition to jobs, and continuing education.
