Suncoast Communities Blood Bank (scbb) provides a reliable supply of quality Blood products and services to 10 hospitals and health centers in four counties. In fiscal year 2019, Suncoast Communities Blood Bank collected 29,630 units of allogeneic red Blood cells and 4,657 units of platlets from 16,371 donors. Over the course of the year, Suncoast Communities Blood Bank supplied over 37,341 Blood products to the patients in local hospitals. Thirteen tests (11 for infectious diseases) are performed on each unit of donated Blood products. Scbb also provides a full range of transfusion services for sarasota memorial hospital. In addition, scbb participates in mononuclear cellular therapy, a treatment program for late stage prostate cancer. Suncoast Communities Blood Bank is fully-accredited by the aabb (formerly the american association of Blood banks), exceeds all standards set forth by the fda (food and drug administration) and is certified by clia (clinical laboratory improvement amendments). ...
