Program areas at Sun Valley Museum of Art

Svmoa's performing Arts offerings are rooted in Arts education and range from world class music and jazz to americana, modern dance to community wide outdoor concerts. A year-round film series complements the big idea programming and offers Arts focused and documentary films that would otherwise not be available in our community.company of fools (cof), a professional theatre company operating under an actors' equity association contract, founded in 1992 was a part of svmoa from 2013 to 2022. After mid-march 2020, cof was unable to produce live theater due to the covid 19 pandemic. After significant discussion with the svmoa board and company of fools' constituency, both organizations agreed to dissolve the relationship between the two entities and the theater group has reformed under the name the liberty theatre company, which will carry on the cof legacy as a new 501c3. This new organization received financial and operational support from svmoa in the fiscal year ending may 2022.
Accredited by the american alliance of museums, svmoa is a non-collecting Museum that originates visual Art exhibitions that range widely in scope, structure, and subject. Most exhibitions are part of larger "big idea projects" that explore ideas or concepts relevant to our time and of interest to our region. This approach provides an opportunity for our community to come together in conversation and provides a foundation from which we are able to offer our audience experiences with some of the world's most interesting artists, musicians, authors, filmmakers, and thought leaders.
Svmoa provides numerous free Arts education programs that reach multiple sectors within our community. Our longstanding partnership with local schools involves taking visiting artists, musicians and writers into classrooms, offering in-school residency programs that work with teachers to meet curricular goals, providing school tours of our exhibitions and professional development opportunities for area educators. In addition to skill-based Art classes, we offer lectures and Art history discussions on relevant topics for the community.
Svmoa grants scholarships to blaine county high school and college students and teachers for the study of the Arts and humanities. Svmoa offers scholarships to Art classes as well as discounted tickets for students and teachers to select events.
