Program areas at SMSC
Our Activity Center program allows each individual with developmental disabilities to achieve their personal potential through a structured and enriched vocational training program in campus and community-based settings. Activity Center participants receive personalized and progressive instruction, which is evidenced in work related experiences and individually tailored goals, objectives and daily activities.
Behavior Modification program is specially designed for clients with higher level behavioral challenges. The goal is to increase the individuals level of independence, and decrease their level of negative behaviors, while they are involved in work and other meaningful activities. The program requires a 1 to 3 ratio. Once a client is able to successfully meet the goals identified in his or her Behavior/Individual Service Plan, they are encouraged to transition to one of our less restrictive programs. The Supported Employment Program provides quality employment services including job coaching for individual and group placements and career counseling. It offers a variety of vocational services to individuals with disabilities who are committed to pursuing work on a regular and on-going basis. The focus of the program is to assist individuals in attaining and maintaining competitive employment.
The Adult Development program offers a variety of opportunities, which aim at increasing the level of independence, as well as improving the overall quality of life for adults with developmental disabilities. A focus is on the development and maintenance of functional skills required for community integration, work training and self care. Clients will typically be in the community 10 to 14 hours per week.
