Partners for Peace believes that every person deserves to live in peace and equality. The organization's mission is to engage individuals and the community to end domestic violence in Penobscot and Piscataq. They offer a 24-hour helpline, individual advocacy, legal advocacy, short-term crisis intervention, safety planning, information referral support and advocacy. Partners for Peace also provides prevention and community education through training, education and systems advocacy in various venues such as schools, healthcare facilities, faith communities and more.

Program areas at Partners for Peace

1)1)24-hour helpline/individual advocacy/legal advocacy - through a 24- hour, free and confidential helpline and individual advocacy, we provide short-term crisis intervention, safety planning, information, referral, support and advocacy as requested by people affected by domestic abuse and violence. Information about and assistance with completing protection from abuse and harassment orders is offered on the hotline and at our resource centers. Court accompaniment and limited legal representation is also available. We provide information and referrals for representation regarding family law, including parental rights and responsibilities, and information about criminal processes. In fiscal year 2022, 1,692 individuals were served for a total of 5,172 safe face to face contacts.
3)3)prevention and community education - we provide training, education and systems advocacy in many venues and all sectors of the community including schools & other youth-based programs, employers, healthcare, childcare, faith communities, the legal system, child protective services, social service providers and many more. At age-appropriate levels, school-based programs teach non-violent conflict resolution, communications skills, and how to identify healthy and unhealthy relationship behaviors. In fiscal year 2022, community education and training was provided to 376 individuals, and school and youth-based activities were provided to 332 youth.
2)2)emergency shelter - we provide confidential, emergency shelter for victims of abuse, including children. Shelter advocates are available to help residents apply for benefits, find childcare and housing, and search for other services such as healthcare and counseling. In fiscal year 2022, 45 individuals were served for a total of 3,219 bed nights.
