Program areas at Spartans Jr Drum and Bugle Corps
We have a drum and bugle corps for young adults, ages 15-21. The corps is taught music, marching, and color guard techniques from November through April. From May through early July, the corps performs in parades and local competitions until the corps departs for its major tour that includes competitions leading into the Drum Corps International World Championships which are currently held in Indianapolis, IN in mid August. During the months of September and October, we prepare for the next year's corps activities.
We have a winter/spring program that is separate from the drum corps. Spartans Indoor Percussion competes in the Percussion Independent Open (PIO) class in the NESBA and WGI circuits, including local shows, WGI Regionals and WGI Championships in Dayton, Ohio. Membership is open to students ages 15 -22 who do not currently attend a school with an active, competitive indoor percussion ensemble.
