Program areas at Southwestern Ohio Conservation Club

TRAP SHOOTING cece This is a form of clay target shooting, that requires accuracy and skill to perform itis a very popular form of competition that people of all ages incomes and abilities can perform Our club has a Thursday night league that 1s open to the public We place special emphasis on trying get youth involved in the sport, and we subsidize their fees in order to make it more affordable for young people to begin shooting We currently have a youth teague that 1s open to high school students with the goal of promoting firearm safety and interest in the shooting sports
TURKEY SHOT een Doe This is a traditional turkey shoot in which tickets are purchased to shoot at paper targets The contestants compete against one another and the ‘most accurate wins a prze Like Trap Shooting this program is available to encourage the proper use of firearms and firearms safety its done ‘an environment that promotes fnendly competition SC‘“‘“s‘“‘“( ‘(SSS Each Turkey Shoot aiso has a youth shoot that promotes youth involvement

Programs including: Boy Scout Activities, Women in the Outdoors, Basic Marksmanship, and Passport to Fishing ‘We offer a vanety of sporting activities throughout the year in order to appeal to a wide range of participants, including the young and old, boys ‘and girls , and men and women regardless of their expenence it is our effort to encourage participation and education of ail interested people “The Club is heavily involved in youth activites that seek to promote the outdoors to the next generation, and so we have multiple programs that meet this goal And we typically involve more than 200 young individuals in many different programs. ssSs~S—S—SSCSCS “The Boy Scouts hoid camp outs at the club at no cost to them They enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and supervised sport shooting activities ‘We also conduct several events sponsored by the Ohio Department of Wildlife such as Women in the Outdoors and Passport to Fishing which ‘teaches kids ages 5 - 15 the basics of fishing. This 1s followed the next day byakids'fishingderby. SSS The Club's mission stnves to educate individuals to protect our natural resources, including i's soil, minerals, forests, waters, air and wildlife
