In 2022 the Southern Movement Committee surveyed over 600 Black Nashvillians about public safety, organized people to participate in the public budget hearing, hosted two Peoples Movement Assemblies, hosted two youth organizing trainings, three leadership training institutes, four mass meetings, a candidate forum, two town halls, held a sneaker drive, organized a coalition around criminal justice reform, gained investments into public goods, co-developed over a dozen people-driven policies, increased civic education with our monthly city council watch, and improved political education with our monthly book club.
