The South Carolina Philharmonic entertains, educates, enriches and excites diverse audiences through live symphonic music. An independent 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, the South Carolina Philharmonic performs and promotes high-quality, professional symphonic music, serving the community’s needs for cultural development and education, entertainment and tourism since 1964. The introduction of Music Director Morihiko Nakahara in 2008/2009 ushered in a New Era of Artistic Excellence that is allowing the orchestra to move forward and become the Midlands pre-eminent performing arts group.

Program areas at South Carolina Philharmonic

The capital concerts is a presentation of six live concerts of traditional large works and contemporary pieces performed at the koger center for the arts.
The holiday concert is an annual holiday concert extravaganza held at the koger center for the arts that includes choirs, singers, special lighting and full orchestra.
The youth orchestras are four separate ensembles that provide elementary, middle, and high school students an orchestra training ground. The students rehearse weekly and hold three concerts per year at the koger center for the arts.
