South Carolina Diabetes Association supports children with diabetes in the state by providing diabetes camping opportunities, school support programs, and partnerships with other agencies. They aim to engage, encourage, empower and inspire diabetic children to reach their full potential. In 2022, SCYDA served 120 children with type 1 diabetes and 50 volunteers in one summer camping opportunity in South Carolina. The attendance allowed these children to enjoy a summer camp in a medically safe environment while building their knowledge, comfort, and independence.

Served 120 children with type 1 diabetes and 50 volunteers in 1 summer camping opportunity in South Carolina in 2022. Attendance allowed these children to enjoy a summer camp in a medically safe environment while building their knowledge, comfort, and independence with diabetes management. Approximately 70% of campers received scholarships to attend. The school support program continued to provide diabetes education to school nurses through a partnership with Mid-Carolina AHEC with online diabetes technology continuing education. An in-person educational session was maintained with school nurses in Lancaster County and Kershaw County, South Carolina.
