Program areas at South Carolina Association for Community Economic Development
Developing organizations: we build the capacity of nonprofits, localbranches of government, and other organizations through technical assistance, training, access to capital, and relationship connections. Programs: Community Development institute (150 attended 5 trainings), more than 300 attended opportunity sc 2022 in greenville, sc and 68 Community members were trained as broadband Community champions resulting in $11,000,000 in broadband projects approved in 9 rural counties.
Attracting and deploying resources: we bring new and additionalresources, often financial, to the state and to the Community Economic Development field. Programs: $75,000 in Community impact fund grants were deployed, $1,000,000 million in emergency rental assistance was distributed, $180,000 in Community garden and hoop house grants were funded and $20,000,000 million in loans to minority women and veteran owned businesses were approved through the sba Community navigator program.
Growing networks and elevating innovation: we bring people together tobuild power and share information and resources. Programs: advocacy for the ced fund and the cd tax credit programs ($2 million in Community Development tax credits leveraged $4.9 million in private capital to underserved communities and $975,000 granted out for Economic Development projects through the state appropriated ced fund), rural resource coalition (100 people attended annual meeting), sc Community capital alliance (150 people attended the alliance conference and landowner workshops (6 trainings held resulting in 6 environmental quality incentives program (eqip) applications, 79 farmers and landowners attended, 24 farmers obtain a farm tract number and 10,390 acres were represented).
