"Conference Contributions" The St. Vincent de Paul Society, a Catholic lay organization, offers person-to-person service to those in need. The smallest unit in the Society is the Conference, usually located at the parish level. Conferences are then organized into Districts and multiple Districts form a Central (or Diocesan) Council. In the Fall River Central Council, the greatest amount of work is completed at the Conference level. Part of the revenue value raised in FY 2019 consisted of "in-kind" goods and services, the majority of which was food and clothing.Conferences distribute these food and clothing items free of charge to those in need. Cash donations are used to keep clients from having their utilities (e.g. electric) shut off, to keep familes warm by providing assistance in paying heating bills, to provide fresh produce to supplement donated foods and in some cases to assist clients with rental arrearages.
