Program areas at SIR
Annual meeting and education - Sir promotes the profession of Interventional Radiology by providing an annual scientific meeting for member and nonmember physicians. Other smaller, procedure-specific meetings and educational conferences and seminars are also held throughout the year.
Products and publications - Sir offers a variety of educational resources to the medical community and the public at large, including the Society's journal of vascular and Interventional Radiology (the journal) and patient information brochures.
Health policy economics and government affairs - Sir takes a proactive role in promoting health policy as well as legislative and research issues pertaining to Interventional Radiology to key policy decision-makers. Also, the Society educates members on the impact the laws and regulations made by key regulatory bodies will have on payment of reimbursements.
Other programs include educational meetings (virtual) provided to our members to continue professional development, priviate practice programming to support members who run their own ir centers, guidelines and standards development for ir procedures, and the development of the virtex registry which will be used to collect data on the procedures ir physicians perform.
