Land protection programs:raised $108,000 To help protect 80 acres of the boling farm just south of the conway freeway interchange.launched a new infarmation program, be bird wise, in collaboration with Washington state department of fish & wildlife, skagit audubon, skagit county tourism bureau, la conner chamber of commerce, skagit conservation district and western Washington agricultural association. The be bird wise program aims To promote responsible behavior while viewing migratory birds on the agricultural landscape.
Farm tours:farm tours, held in the spring and summer, are designed To inform spf members and guests about the different types of agricultural infrastructure necessary for a viable agricultural industry in skagit valley.
Outreach and education:successfully advocated as part of the right growth right place campaign To suspend the county's work To amend the county's comprehensive plan To allow fully contained communities (fccs) in skagit county.successfully partnered with local organizations and the community To keep a new international airport, twice the size of sea tac international airport, from being proposed on skagit Farmland. Successfully worked with skagit county To permanently protect seven acres of Farmland immediately adjacent To the city of burlington as part of a project To clean up a public health hazard.provided a $1,000 scholarship To award-winning, honor-roll student emily johnson, a sedro-woolley high school senior. Emily plans To attend skagit valley college then Washington state university To further her passion for all things agricultural with a teaching career.
