Program areas at Sisters of St Joseph Dear Neighbor Ministries
See schedule odear Neighbor Ministries provides direct assistance to meet the basic and immediate needs of individuals and families living in the hilltop neighborhood, as well as guidance to make lasting change. Services to meet basic needs include rent, utility, transportation, and food assistance. Tax preparation is available for people with low to moderate income, and a representative payee service helps those in need manage their finances. For long-term change, an eleven-week getting ahead in a just getting by world class is offered at least twice a year to help families identify and break out of the cycle of poverty. Children's activities help hilltop families give their kids opportunities to learn and grow that they might not otherwise experience. Children's activities at Dear Neighbor Ministries include weekly arts and crafts at the hilltop community center, special interest clubs that foster curiosity and encourage kids to explore their interests, and field trips to fun and educational places. Dear Neighbor Ministries also manages the hilltop community center. Working closely with the neighborhood association, classes and special events are held at the community center throughout the year which give residents access to employment resources, social services, community celebrations, and much more. The center has become a hub for the entire neighborhood to access resources and strengthen the community. Through all of these services, offered at no cost to those who need them, Dear Neighbor Ministries walks with those in need to encourage a healthy neighborhood and find a way out of poverty.
