Program areas at Side x Side
During the 2023-24 fiscal year, Side X Side provided arts integration experiences to over 1,000 pre-k-8th grade students, and 314 educators. An additional accomplishment includes project Maine, a professional development series with interactive webinars and in person visual and performing arts workshops around the state. Educators from kittery to presque isle joined us to make art and learn arts integration techniques to bring to their classrooms. This work was funded by a congressional directed spending grant through the office of senator angus king and the u.s. department of education. Additional accomplishments continues on schedule o. Another highlight was an integrated science and literary unit on pollinators for second graders in portland with teaching artist nance parker. The program included a field trip to view chris miller's sculpture, "carousel cosmos", scientific drawings and sculpture work on pollinators and an exhibit at the school's art night. Our achievements are the result of collaborating "Side by Side" with schools, artists, community member, and funders. This program was funded by the lily sarah grace fund, tempoart and individual donors.
