Home Delivered Meals - In 2022, staff and over 50 volunteers delivered over 15,000 hot, nutritious meals and 204,000 frozen meals to homebound older adults in the Kansas City area.
Resource and Referral and Other Contimuum of Care Services - Resource and referral provides information on community resources and referral to individuals in need. Uniquely offered by sneiors, the peer-to-peer integrated continuum of care model of lifecycle programs and services keep older adults engaged in purposeful living, reduces food insecurity and provides peace of mind to older adults and their caregivers. In 2022, our integrated continuim of care provided 830 hours of case management to 99 clients.
Senior Companion Program matches seniors 55 and over in Jackson County, MO who live at or below the federal financial poverty line with homebound seniors. Senior Companions provide 15-40 hours a week of critical in-home companionship to their homebound clients and their families to help them stay in their homes, reduce dangerous social isolation and allow caregivers time to take care of important family business. For their dedication, the Senior Companions are paid a small stipend and are reimbursed for their transportation. In 2022, 35 Companions served 35 individuals providing over 47,800 hours of service at no charge to the clients and saving families and taxpayers an estimated amount over $950,000.
Adventures in Learning promotes lifelong learning and cultural enrichment. Courses chosen by participants cover a wide range of engaging topics and cultivate a rich community of active, older adults who are enthusiastic about adventure, learning, exploring, adn building new friendships. ***ARE THERE ANY ACTUAL STATS FOR THIS PROGRAM****
Medicare Assistance helps individuals & families understand how to navigate the Medicare system & secure supplemental insurance to meet their changing healthcare needs. The program provides those who receive Medicare benefits with free 1 on 1 counseling through 1 full-time employee & 12 volunteers. The program helps clients enroll in Medicare Advantage Plans, select thebest Medicare Supplement Plan & Medicare Part D Prescription Plan annually, file appeals for medical charges believed to be incorrect, enrollment in assistance programs from other state & federal sources, helps replace lost Medicare & Social Security cards & connects clients to other valuable resources through referral. Most clients benefit from meeting with MO CLAIM SHIP trained counselors by saving money and having better access to benefits they are entitled to. In 2022, over ***2022 stats*** counseling contacts were provided.
Senior Phone Pal As a result of COVID, the Organization created the Senior Phone Pal Program. In 2022, 24 volunteers made approximately 1900 calls to over 20 sentiors. Post-covid, as our programming returned to in-person service, there was a lower demand for the Phone Pal Program.
KC Rakes provides volunteers to rake yards for older adults in the Kansas City area who are not longer physically able to rake and cannot afford to hire help. In 2022, 310 volunteers raked the yards of more than 40 older adults.
