Project nazarene assists persecuted religious minority communities that have survived a genocide or persecution. The project assists with building resilience and empowering persecuted minority communities through projects that promote economic enpowerment through job creation and small business development or by supporting culture and education which promotes cultural resilience. Our livelihood projects in countries like iraq restores and restarts businesses as a means of transforming the economic situation in devasted towns and villages, while combatting poverty. In countries like myanmar, we have supported ethno-religious minorities with nutrition and education support for children. While in india, we empowered young religious minority at risk women in the kandhamal district of orissa whose husbands were killed by sectarian mobs in rural villages. The widows left with young children had no means of support to raise the children. This project provides them with the skills, tools and resources necessary to setup small scale businesses (tailoring, paper plate production, goat raising, grocery shops, etc.) That will not only enhance their livelihoods but also enable their children to receive a quality education.
