Second Servings of Houston

As Houston's only perishable food rescue organization, we pick up unsold and unserved food from more than 400 food businesses and deliver it directly to 130 local nonprofits. In our first 9 years, we delivered over $75 million worth of food and diverted over 10 million pounds away from the landfill. Our food helps nourish about 175,000 struggling houstonians annually. Our "same day pickup and delivery" model maximizes food freshness and minimizes costs. Our organization is able to deliver $40 worth of food for every dollar we spent. Our president continues to lead the fast-growing organization on a pro bono full-time basis.
