Program areas at Seattle Waldorf School
Seattle Waldorf School is the largest Waldorf School in the pacific northwest, enrolling nearly 300 students on three campuses in the greater Seattle area. Seattle Waldorf School is rooted in the educational philosophy of scientist and philosopher rudolf steiner (1861-1925). Our primary goal is to develop free thinking, morally responsible individuals with superlative intellectual and social capacities - traits that are as important in today's interconnected world as they were a century ago. Students gain a rich and complex understanding of their world through math and music, history and theater, science, literature, practical visual and performing arts, festivals, and traditions._our curriculum aligns with the stages of child development and cognitive awakening in key phases of childhoodbirth to 7 years, 7 to 14, and 14 to 18. In the earliest years, children learn primarily by imitation and activity, and our early childhood programs use exploration and play as a foundation for independent thought and creative thinking in grade School, storytelling and art are employed as teaching vehicles as students develop core academic skills through collaborative problem-solving and group participation._finally, in high School, subject specialists lead students through a rich array of courses ranging from projective geometry to shakespeare to the history of architecture to biochemistry. Graduates are truly independent thinkers who are well-prepared for college and the awaiting world beyond.
