Program areas at Seattle Symphony Orchestra
The Seattle Symphony is one of america's leading orchestras, and is internationally acclaimed for its innovative programming and extensive recording history. The Symphony is heard from september through july by more than 500,000 people through live performances, streaming, and radio broadcasts. It performs in one of the finest concert halls in the world -- the acoustically superb benaroya hall -- in downtown Seattle. The Symphony also manages performances and events at benaroya hall by other artistic organizations, community groups and other organizations.
The Seattle Symphony offers extensive arts education programs for families, teachers and students, and it collaborates with more than 70 local nonprofit partners to build meaningful connections with our communities. Activities include teaching artist residencies in elementary classrooms, educational concerts, free concert tickets, and arts-based programs serving individuals affected by homelessness, addiction, and other trauma. People of all ages explore symphonic music through instrument exploration and live music presentations. The Symphony's education and community engagement programs bring classical music to more than 65,000 people each year.
