Program areas at SculptureCenter
As a non-collecting museum, Sculpturecenter's annual exhibition program includes 3-6 solo and group exhibitions (most consisting entirely of newly commissioned works) and an in practice open call program, which features new commissions by 10-15 emerging artists. To facilitate deep public engagement and encourage dialogue between visitors of all ages, artists, and their work, Sculpturecenter hosts free events and programs that complement our exhibitions, such as lectures and panel discussions, with leaders in The field of contemporary art and other related fields.in fiscal year 2022, Sculpturecenter presented 5 critically acclaimed exhibitions, showcasing 17 artists: diane severin nguyen: if revolution is a sickness, The artist's first institutional solo exhibition and The debut of a major new moving image work and installation commissioned by Sculpturecenter (toured to renaissance society, chicago, and contemporary arts museum houston); niloufar emamifar, soil thornton, and an oral history of knobkerry, which included new commissions by two artists and The publication of a milestone oral history project; liz larner: don't put it back like it was, The established artist's first institutional solo exhibition in new york and her first retrospective exhibition in 20 years (toured to walker art Center, minneapolis; with monographic catalog); and lydia ourahmane: tassili, The artist's first institutional solo exhibition in new york, including two new monumental works commissioned by Sculpturecenter (toured to fondation louis vuitton, paris; mercer union, toronto; b7l9 art station, tunis; rhizome, algiers; with elements touring to nottingham contemporary, uk and magasin cnac, grenoble).
