Program areas at SCO Family of Services

Special needs & behavioral health Services - see schedule ospecial needs & behavioral health services:sco provides expert care to over 5,000 children, youth and adults with special needs through a broad continuum of support, residential and treatment Services that unlock potential and help them lead full and productive lives. We provide support to children and young adults with emotional disorders needed to live and function in the community. We offer highly structured residential Services, crisis respite, assessment, case planning and case coordination, clinical support and treatment, community based Services and in-home Services for children and young adults who live with their families and other caregivers.sco helps children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities realize their full potential and become participating members of the community through a variety of in home habilitative Services, residences and supportive caregivers structured to permit children and adults with developmental disabilities to strive to become as independent as possible.
Education and youth development Services - see schedule oeducation and youth development Services: Sco provides Services including nyc department of education transfer schools for high school age students who are over age and under-credited; therapeutic residential campus-based schools for youth with developmental disabilities and/or mental health needs; school-based and community-based after -school and summer enrichment, recreation, skill-building, and arts programs; summer jobs and internship programs for teens; community residential placement and community and home-based Family intervention for court-involved youth. These programs have a contracted capacity of approximately 10,000 slots, and are funded with federal, state and local resources through contracts and private funds.
Foster care and adoption - see schedule ofoster care and adoption:sco helps parents establish strong Family bonds, providing Family counseling, literacy and employment Services to support Family life. We engage families to create stronger communities, stabilize families in crisis, keep children safe and work with parents to avoid out-of-home placement. For children who cannot live at home, Sco provides foster boarding homes, therapeutic foster care and group residence care. Our foster care programs serve more than 740 children in Family foster homes, group homes and other residential settings in addition to offering programs that strive to reunite children with their families. Sco works with children, young adults and families providing necessary supports to promote individual growth, support Family life and create strong, vibrant families and communities.
