Program areas at Schuylkill River Heritage Center at Atphoenixville

During the year, individuals use the organization's facilities to learn about the rich cultural and industrial Heritage of the area. They learn through using the organization's interactive exhibits, through the videos that are available and through the pictures and period artifacts that are on display. As an additional means to further the learning process, the organization also hosts frequent lectures and programs dealing with different facets of the Schuylkill River's regional history. The srhc also hosts visits from the area's senior groups and 2nd and 4th graders from the area's schools.
In 2017, the Schuylkill River Heritage Center (srhc) was able to raise the funds to purchase the renaissance park property, located in the Center of Phoenixville's historic downtown district. The purchase included an easement for wall adjacent to the park, on which the 40' x 80' Phoenixville mural had been painted in 1994. The original mural was taken down so that the wall on which it had been painted could be structurally repaired. The srhc also raised the funds so that the iconic mural could be recreated. The mural depicts Phoenixville's inclusive cultural and industrial legacy. In 2019, the srhc completed the installation of new plants and a new gathering place with inscribed bricks in the park adjacent to the mural. This year, a small, historic phoenix bridge sculpture was recently installed in the park.
